In-Character Information
Name: Evve
Game/Series: Pokemon
Teacher/Student/Other: Other; staff member
Canon Point: N/A
Age: 27
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Truancy Officer
Dorm or Living Arrangement: Dorm
Personality:
Evve is an aged Eevee with an unfounded hatred against evolution. The reason being that she is a lady that simply does not like changes she cannot control as well as diving into something of permanence. That being the case, she keeps to her roots as an Eevee, a lifestyle she knows she can count on, even at the most opportune times to evolve throughout her history.
At the more pleasant times, she'd get around to mashing her internal B button the moment she could feel the changes coming on, day or night, threatening her existence into an Espeon or Umbreon, respectively. This tends to discourage her from settling down and being satisfied with life, which she takes as a sign that she may as well lay down and die anyway. It all sparks as another characteristic of Evve in that she has great strength of will, making her to be an incredibly difficult Pokemon to catch, let alone train. She isn't looking forward to the day a formidable trainer with as much patience and tenacity as her tries to claim her, though.
Despite her dislike for personal change, Evve actually can't stop her curiosity from getting her to wander around. She doesn't stay in one place for very long unless she has a particular fondness for it, which is also a rare thing. More often than not, something about a location will tick her off (usually the residents), and so Evve will pick up and move on. She prefers large cities so as to remain predominantly unnoticed, but the crowds can be too much over time, and she will abandon ship out of frustration. She follows a pattern of hitting small towns then large towns, cycling out her needs for change and solitude.
Evve is a quick learner and intelligent, but in the same vein, this has left her jaded and unimpressed with most things over time. When her curiosity is satiated, she will tend to be lazy in her activities and current hobbies, and rather often come off as lacking any education/training at all when she sees no desire to execute her knowledge, even when it would be called for. She takes most insults to her intelligence and skills in stride, often going along with it if it suits her needs to (though it's mostly because she can't be bothered to deal with it). She can be relentlessly sarcastic because of this, and dry humor is her unfortunate strong point.
Evve's default mood is unpleasant: grumpy, cold, and bitter, but introverted. As previously mentioned, it suppresses the potential for evolution for her to be as such, and trainers especially have been excellent assets in helping her to avoid this. As stated, Evve prefers to go unnoticed, but considering wild Eevee's aren't exactly common, people's eyes gravitate toward a rogue Eevee, often for their own selfish reasons. Even the least ambitious of trainers tend to try and catch her. Evve's vagabond life has allowed her to see more than most, and she finds trainers to be selfish in their catches, never considering what the Pokemon they're targeting may want for their future. She has met one too many Pokemon that weren't fond of their lives, and rather often felt they couldn't do anything about it. These meetings have given Evve a passive sense of justice. She absolutely hates people that are oblivious to the needs or effects their actions have on others, or are selfish for greed's sake, and though she would like to see something done about it, she often does little herself but complain and avoid that future for herself. That said, large cities allow Evve to easily escape those targeting her, all the while suiting her needs to experience a completely new lifestyle.
There are times, however, that Evve is social and approachable, and one of her favorite hangouts is a Pokemon Center during meal time for this reason. She won't always reject a fellow Pokemon's conversation or a human's chatter if the time is proper for it (i.e. She's in the right mood and she's got enough food in her belly to keep her from being crabby), and has admitted to having friends all over the known regions, even though there's been no contact with them for ages. This expresses Evve's subtle sense of loyalty to people and Pokemon she finds herself liking, enough to call them 'friends' as well as keep them to heart as such. She never overlooks a good deal to make her life easier (the humans feed her all the time, often letting her stay in their homes without expecting compensation, which is also where most of her Pokemon friends are), but she doesn't forget a person's benevolence, either. It gives Evve a sense of hope that not all trainers are as greedy as she believes them to be, but considering the status of trainers in the world, she finds these events to occur few and far between. (Call it bad luck on her part.) Surprisingly, she is quick to forgive those she is loyal to, but mostly because grudges are a hassle, so Evve's friendship is far from unstable, should one attain such a status with her. It also lies with the fact good people and not-annoying Pokemon are hard to find, so losing them never feels like a win-win for anyone.
Though Evve is not exactly a social Butterfree, she does have hidden desires to meet Pokemon and people she can count on and enjoy being with, but her sardonic attitude overlaps this desire, so often times she will miss an opportunity when it strikes on the belief that her company will be an inevitable letdown. Her company's persistence usually results in Evve either making a new friend, or someone she can consistently begrudge kindness to and tease. Hey, it isn't her fault if they don't get the message.
In general, this lady Eevee is simply looking for new experiences in life, hoping to never find what she's looking for, or else what's left? Evve has a fascination with various cuisines, terrible television dramas, and gossip (more eavesdropping on it than spreading it herself). In fact, the more she gets into someone's business, the more it shows she cares for them, even if it means she's just being nosy (but that won't stop her). She loves to read whatever she can get her paws on, crime novels being a favorite, but will sometimes sneak away a teen fantasy novel for some happier endings. (But she wouldn't be caught dead with them.) Evve tends to frown upon immaturity, not too fond of younger Pokemon acting like fools or being too naive, but she can be a very go-with-the-flow Eevee, and with the right parties, let herself loose. She also serves as a vat of information on mostly useless subjects, but can be trusted to do her research right the first time. Since she usually doesn't care about what most people have to say, she makes for a great secret keeper, but I promise you, she really does not care.
Backstory:
Evve's life began on the Sevii Islands, and her vagrant ways got off to an early start. From the moment she could walk properly, Evve had gotten herself separated from the litter, ambitious to discover what every single thing around her was capable of. She had been lost and found several times by the Day-Care couple that resides on Floe Island, her birthplace, but eventually Evve had wandered too far for too long, having found Floe Island to become a rather boring affair on a daily basis, and landed herself on a ferry to another island by mistake. From there, she followed a stream of humans onto a ship heading back North to the main continent of Kanto. At first she was terrified, racing all over the steel floors in panic. She had never felt anything so cold and hard in her life, they ferry having been a much gentler ride and all the sounds of the boat had overwhelmed her into wrecking havoc on the ship, surprising many of the crew as she knocked sailors over and tripped the Captain, to boot.
Despite the unfavorable matters upon which they met, the Captain had been really kind to his ship's little stowaway, keeping the young Eevee aboard until they got safely to Vermillion City. The Captain's accent was a strong one, and he pronounced "Eevee" in a way it rhymed with "heavy". His first mate found this rather funny, and decided to call the little one "Evve." Evve thought it was a great name, and from there on out, she kept it, the kindness of the crew and the Captain having left an immeasurable great impression on the influential child.
Evve was then left at the Vermillion City Pokemon Center with her new name attached, where she was fed daily and grew into the habit of a routine in meeting many Pokemon she had never seen before and more humans than she could ever imagine. The nurse, having decided to let Evve stay when no one claimed her, had made quite the friend out of Evve. She remained at the center for quite a few years before Vermillion City and its surrounding areas had expended itself of anything else to explore. Growing lethargic about everything, Evve took it upon herself to wander beyond the city. She assumed she would eventually return, following Route 11 and then 12, but when she discovered Lavender Town, it was a turning point.
Evve's explorations had given her a darker look at the world, and though she had been relieved of the horror stories older Pokemon at the Center avoided revealing to such a young Pokemon, Lavender Town wasn't so kind to her ears. It was there she had to learn the inevitable cycle of life, how one would naturally cease to exist, and, sadly, how many were forced into nonexistence. The news overcomes Evve as incredibly disturbing, but being an Eevee that needs to know more, she decided to stick around Lavender Town for a time and take in the stories.
The weight of a morose town eventually had Evve moving on, but it had done its damage. While she met many trainers that would come to visit and mourn their losses, upholding nothing but the utmost love for their beloved friends long after their demise, she also heard too much about the cruelty of humans and, shockingly trainers themselves. Determined to override the negativity that overwhelmed her, Evve began a journey to not only satiate her need for the new, but to find instances in the world that would otherwise tell her there was more good than evil in their world.
For the most part, Evve had a string of bad luck on those she met. Since the Centers were her general hang out from town to town, it was there she'd often meet the Pokemon that were hurt or recovering, and while she became hesitant to join the trainers, she would approach her elder Pokemon and listen to their stories. Whether it was the power of what Lavender Town had taught her superseding her ability to always consider the good before the bad, or perhaps it was because the bad was simply all she had been getting to hear, Evve's chin was far from up and her hope was starting to be crap on the bottom of a barrel. Town to town, and eventually region to region, Evve had found the selfish nature of trainers to be all she could focus on. Even though sometimes she would recall the Captain that had found her, could have kept her for himself, but instead took her someplace safe and even gave her a name… It wasn't enough.
The more she travelled, the more her grievances were founded. Trainers would consistently try to catch her without warning, often launching attacks and doing what trainers did while she would be resting or just cruising through a town, trying to catch a hot meal from a nice vendor. They'd call her names while she darted from their grasp, utilizing her environment to escape. Evve's journey had her meeting plenty of wild Pokemon that opted to show her fun tricks of evasion, and her speed became her dominant stat as time went on. Evve had no intentions, after all, of ever being caught, so she took it upon herself to train herself. Besides, she thought herself independent, needing no greedy, smug trainer to tell her how to live, so she spent her time sparring wild Pokemon to ensure her safety from the depths of a Poke Ball.
When she wasn't roaming the wild, Evve took refuge in the homes of trainers and non-trainers alike, so long as she read them well enough to trust them not to try and ambush her into being on their team. (She would also screen the Pokemon before accepting any hospitality, usually asking them how their state of affairs with their human was.) From region to region, town to town, she took solace in these kind humans and their Pokemon companions, and it's one of the only reasons Evve has maintained any fragment of faith for humanity's ability to be respectable.
Evve has well aged into her late 20s when she was on her way to visit Unova, going about it in the usual stowaway design, this time on an aircraft. She found herself in Mistralton City upon arrival, and wasted no time in beginning her exploration of this new region. Her time there is short, however, a sudden storm having captivated the area and throwing the poor Eevee into one heck of an electrical whirlwind surprise! For a moment, she swore she saw a Pokemon she had never seen before, but…
When she woke up, she was in a new place. Something about it seemed strange. Off. It didn't feel like Unova anymore. When she managed to get to all fours again, kicking them into gear and getting a move on, Evve found herself standing before a towering building, long and accentuated with windows, until finally she came upon some indication of what it could be. It reminded her of a school…
And so Evve would arrive at Smash Academy, completely and utterly confused, but interested nevertheless. Was time to show some authority and get some answers about what happened just then!
Anything Else?:
• Evve's actual level isn't very high (Approx. level 30-40), having no formal training. As previously stated, she has mostly trained her Speed, making her a Pokemon that's quick on her feet into acting first, but otherwise Evve has no desire to battle.
• Evve's skill set is as follows:
⁃ Double Team
⁃ Quick Attack
⁃ Bite
⁃ Covet
• SHE AIN'T AFRAID OF NO GHOSTS. For real, she isn't. She had an extended stay in Lavender Town and knows pretty well they can't do much damage to her either way.
In-Character 1st person sample:
[ A new woman has appeared on your campus, Smash, and she looks less than thrilled about her situation. At first it was rather exciting, but now she's just narrowing her new human eyes at all you little snot balls and desiring nothing more than to leave. When she speaks, her face remains somewhat deadpan, but she is going to try to sound like she cares about what she's saying. Here we go. ]
I was told to introduce myself. [ That was probably not the greatest start. ] My name is Evve, and I would like to point out that I am an Eevee, not a human, but for the sake of convenience with language barriers, we're gonna roll with this. [ She leans back in her chair, sharp copper eyes rolling toward the ceiling. ] I'm apparently a new member of some team of authoritative figures, which means I have to make sure no one does anything stupid, which is basically like asking for the impossible, so, yeah. [ She scoffs. ] Okay.
[ With a sharp, long exhale, she looks at the camera. ] Buuuut if we could just make this easier and everyone just sit in one spot for the rest of their time here at this academy, I would really appreciate the cooperation. Yeah? [ She nods. ] Yeeeeah.
In-Character 3rd person sample:
The disembodied hands should probably have been far more terrifying a sight to the Eevee, but something about them cried more "bizarre" than "alarming". It was the first time in Evve's life where she truly was concerned about her outlook on the world and just how indifferent she was becoming as time went on.
She didn't understand exactly why she had been presented with this (forced) opportunity to tell people what to do, but how did they even know she might've cared just a tad about the way Pokemon - and she guessed people sometimes - were treated? She wasn't particularly fond of being zoned into hypocrisy 'or else', after all. She hated that trainers forced Pokemon into certain lives, so why would she wanna tell people how to act?
Maybe toward the humans it would prove a perfect medicine she would do nothing but take pleasure in serving, but on the flip side, she wasn't sure what she would even say to them. Truth be told, she didn't really want to keep an eye on a bunch of sophomoric students needing a good punt in the ass, and as she left the academy to wander into the courtyard, she had already committed herself to doing the worst possible job at this Truancy Officer nonsense. And by that, she meant she intended not to really do anything whatsoever.
Evve had been given this… human form, and the shock of that alone had been far too great at first. Every chance she had to look down at her hands, she cringed. Human. It was the last thing she ever wanted to be, but the use of this form was clear. From what she understood, she would likely need it to uphold any kind of authority, but seeing as that was going to be a purposeful bust…
POOMF.
She turned right back into an Eevee, tail a-fluffed and long, slender ears swung back. That was easy enough! Those Hands weren't kidding. She sneezed the last bit of human gross out of her sinuses, then went hopping along her way. She did hear there were other Pokemon on campus, so perhaps she could extract some information out of them.
Or maybe this supposed "team" she was on could tell her more. Whatever.
